I'm considering the same thing! But intentionally depriving myself of sleep for something else I want to do is hard. I do love to sleep. But I miss writing. And my brain is toasted by 7 pm most days so an early alarm is the answer but...yuck. How are your wake up calls going?
Not well for the exact reason you described -- is it worth it to cut into sleep even if it's for something I enjoy? It's a struggle! So far the answer has been no. I hope that once I am working less (whenever that will be...) it will be easier to hit the hay earlier to set myself up for successful 5 am wake up calls.
I'm often up between 5 and 530 to feed the stupid cats before the baby wakes for the day. But I usually just go lie back down until I need to be up for good with her. I guess if I don't feel like total crap one of these mornings, I could just stay up and see what I could do with that time...
That is the perfect time if you can swing it! It's worth trying it out (and setting up the coffee maker ahead of time, ha!). A lot of writing can happen with just a few days a week! Let me know if you try it :)
