What do anoles eat?
Live insects/critters
I have 3 anoles living in my basement/garage. Anoles are small lizards that are very cute and can change colors (green to brown). I feel compelled to ensure they are fed and watered since we are cohabitating. So I put out a tiny water bowl and ventured to the pet store to see what I could buy as food since I figured they would run out of spiders eventually. Google had already told me that crickets were an option, but there was no way I was intentionally letting crickets loose in my house (IYKYK). I settled on meal worms after confirming that they are ‘not too mobile’. I can confirm that some worms have been eaten (yay!!!). These lizards already have a nice habitat since we have houseplants in our garage that cannot tolerate winter weather. However, one anole has determined my bin of workout clothes to be more comfortable and has taken up residence in a soft shirt. I take joy in visiting them each day and observing their cute reptilian visages.
An observation on creativity: it must have space to breathe and time to simmer. This is a lesson I have learned and relearned. During this work-intensive season, I can feel my connection to my creative side dwindling. There is no spare time in the day to let my mind leisurely mull over an idea, or wander far enough away from work to stumble upon an inspired idea. Unless I consciously make the time. What small pieces of time can I carve out for quiet, solitude, and reflection? Given that we are in the dark months, I am leaning toward a warmly lit, fuzzy, hygge kind of environment that fits the season. Twinkle lights, anyone?
