Shadow people
Fell down a rabbit hole after listening to a ghost story (Spooked podcast, of course). Now I want to read some books about shadow people!

Have you followed the trend of choosing a word-of-the-year? If you are unfamiliar with the idea or want to hear some ideas from a podcasting sister duo, then check out the most recent episode of the Happier with Gretchen Rubin podcast where Gretchen and her co-host talk about their past, current, and 2024 words of the year.
I chose the word ‘simplify’ a couple of years ago and I feel like I need to make it the word of my life because I have recurring strong urges to move toward simplicity. The problem is that while I crave simplicity, I gravitate towards abundance. It’s a tension that has always bothered me. An internal tug of war that I don’t know how to resolve. When the desire for simplicity builds up, I want to pull everything out of my house and throw it in the street. The rest of the time I spend creating and collecting.
There are two books that I’ve read in the past that I may re-read this next year to help move back to simplicity in an intentional way: Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport and Essentialism by Ian McKeown.
I haven’t thought much about a word-of-the-year for 2024 yet. If you have one for this year, or for next year, I’d love to hear it!
