These creative check-ins are certainly making it obvious that I was a bit over-ambitious with my goals for this year, but I am always optimistic that I will have the time to pursue creativity to my heart’s content…so oh well. What this list doesn’t reflect is that I have been consistently meeting with my poetry group nearly every month which is a huge boost to my poetry (the accountability, the feedback, the kinship). So while I’m falling short on a lot of my goals, I am still proud of my progress this year. Anyway, here is where I’m at:
Sign up for 2 writing workshops: The first workshop has been completed, and while I signed up for a second - it got canceled (womp)
Submit poetry 50 times: At 24, and I will be happy with somewhere between 30-40.
Read 40 books (sub-goal #1: 12 books of poetry, sub-goal #2: mostly physical books): Already hit 40 books (3 poetry, 25 physical)
12 Creativebug classes (to play around with different creative mediums): I’ve done so poorly on this one! I have only completed 1.
12 artist dates (in the spirit of The Artist’s Way): Still zero — simply too ambitious in my current season of life.
Explore poems on a theme each quarter: No update - I will give myself partial credit here. In my first poetry workshop, I leaned into integrating science into poetry.
Complete a 100-day project: I started this in September but it has been rocky so far! Starts, stops, and overall inconsistent, but I persist.
Recently finished: Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano (one of the best books I’ve read thus far this year)
Recent internet search of note: Recipes to use sour cream
Landed on cinnamon coffee cake. Yum!
Ambitious goals are the best ones. And it sounds like you're accomplishing a lot on top of the goals you set, so well done. And...I think I need to try this cinnamon coffee cake recipe, please!
